Symptoms of Schizophrenia
The following is a list of symptoms of schizophrenia:
Delusions: Holding false beliefs (ex.- "I am the president of the United States")
Hallucinations: Seeing things that are not there (ex.- "bugs are crawling over me")
Disorganized speech: Could be incoherent or with frequent derailment and subject changing.
Grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior
Negative symtoms, which can consist of a flat affect, not reacting emotionally to stimuli.
When one is suffering from schizophrenia, his or her life is severely impacted, as the person has a very difficult time functioning. The person's basic view of reality often times becomes very skewed.
