Freudian Slip: Beauty Fool, A song about self-esteem

"Beauty Fool" is a song I wrote about the pressures of society and how it is constantly defining what "beauty" should be.  Inner beauty is what matters, not what is on the outside.  Those that focus on outer beauty are the "beauty fools" in this song.  I hope you enjoy it!

I use this song in therapy to discuss the concept of self-esteem.

Beauty Fool

Lyrics and Music by Freudian Slip

This picture perfect way of life...that we’re so happy in

Is made of those that fit the bill of tall and blonde and thin

I tried so hard just to fit in but the elite they are few

Add lipstick, blush, and eyeliner, but what is left is you

You spent your whole life playing the part of the ghoul

When will you realize that you’re so beautiful?

A thousand cries a thousand times over the sinkhole you’re in

It’s only the outside that matters well what about within?

You spent your whole life being treated oh so cruel

When will you realize that you’re so beautiful?

What’s left inside is what matters when you die

But when I go will they remember me?

You spent your whole life playing the part of the ghoul

When will you realize that you’re so beautiful

They lived their complete lives creating their own rules

When will they realize that they’re the beauty fools???
