Child Anger Management

Breaking the child's anger habit

To help the child break the anger habit, you must help him or her develop an awareness of the events, circumstances, and behaviors of others that “trigger” the anger. This awareness also involves understanding the negative consequences that result from anger. For example, a child may get angry whenever he or she is asked to clean his or her room.  This angers the child, who then begins arguing with the parent.  The argument which ensues makes the child even more angry.  As the anger escalates the child ends up being consequenced for way more than not wanting to clean his or her room.  The consequences that would come from this event would be several.

This leads us to the next section: "Strategies for Controlling Anger"
